Technology that transforms: learn about the solution that is revolutionizing pest control in cotton cultivation

Created in 2007, the Mato Grosso Cotton Institute(IMAmt) focuses mainly on the Cotton Genetic Improvement Program. Through high-level research, the institution supports the development of more productive varieties, with higher quality fibers and resistant to the main diseases and pests.

IMAmt's technical team used an application to collect data in the field, even in areas without an internet connection. However, the old application had several problems: it was difficult to manage users with different profiles, there was a loss of accumulated data and the outdated version of the software made it difficult to make the necessary updates and evolve the system's functionalities.

In addition, there were two collection teams in the field, each with its own database. This made synchronizing the information collected and managing the data even more complex.

Idopter Labs was hired to tackle these challenges together with the IMAmt team. We started the solution by upgrading the technology and redesigning the application to enhance a modern interface and improve the user experience, which made it possible not only to solve the pains reported by IMAmt but also to develop new functionalities for the system.

We highlight the main points of the solution:

• Separation of the original application into two: SAP-e CEB (Effective Bicudo Control and Bicudo Monitoring) and SAP-e IMAmt, each with its own authentication system and user profile, validations and data synchronization, reducing the complexity of managing and analyzing the data collected.
• We have implemented a robust synchronization system, ensuring that data is always up to date, with no inconsistencies in the information collected such as data loss or duplicates. 
• Implementation of support functionalities such as historical data synchronization, trap photo capture, compass display and advanced filters to facilitate the monitoring and management of traps in cotton cultivation.
• Interactive map viewing and navigation allows for an intuitive and efficient experience, with standard and satellite viewing options.
